How to add automatic subtitles to a video
Transcribe the speech in a video or audio file with AI and get an SRT / VTT subtitle file.
Most social videos are watched on mute; subtitles raise watch time and make your video accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers. Instead of typing the dialogue by hand, you can generate subtitles automatically with AI.
Steps
1) Upload your video or audio at /app/subtitles (MP4, MOV, WebM, MP3, WAV, M4A). 2) Pick the spoken language or leave it on 'Auto'. 3) Hit 'Generate subtitles'; the audio is extracted and the Whisper model transcribes it with timestamps. 4) Download as SRT or VTT.
How do I add the subtitles to my video?
Upload the SRT file under 'Subtitles' in YouTube Studio. Editors like CapCut, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve also import SRT and place it over the video. For your own website, use the VTT format.
The Whisper model runs entirely in your browser; your file never leaves your device. On first use, about 77 MB of model data is downloaded and cached. Files up to 30 minutes are supported, and a faster computer finishes sooner. Each file costs 1 credit.
